Description
The Isel is the second largest river in East Tyrol. It rises from the Umbal glacier at an altitude of 2,400 m and flows into the Drau after 57 km in the town of Lienz.
Due to the summer glacier melt, the water is milky white from the end of May to mid-September. The Isel is a very varied water body, flows partly fast, is 30 - 50 m wide and has all thinkable structures, which also demanding fly fishers desire. The fish population consists of brown trout, rainbow trout and above all Isel grayling. An important feature of our Isel stretch are the widenings with large gravel banks, which are always changing, forming new river arms and already we find the fish in new places!
This area starts about 3 km above Ainet, includes both riversides and ends at the Isel bridge there. On the right-bank accompanying path this stretch is easily passable throughout. The daily fishing is limited to 4 guests.
